Book Review

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens is a book about a boy who has to fulfill many great tasks. Coming from the title Pip has expectations to live up to. This book is written in 18th century language, and is a slow, boring read. As I was reading this book I found it a bit confusing because of the language used.  The book was a little dry for me/not as adventurous as I would have liked. It was very hard for me to read and get into a zone, it was certainly not enjoyable to read. I would not recommend people to read this book because the time period that the book is written in is not a time period that anyone can relate to. Most people cannot relate to the book as a whole for many reasons. Reasons I have found are; the people act differently, the jobs are different and it is a totally different setting than we live in. The setting is in London, England and the way they speak is different than us and the way they act in that time period is in no way similar to how we act today. Most people who will read this book will find that the book is a slow read and is very hard to get into.
